Food safety
Food business is the businesses that have to depend on Conscience Industry of the seller. Because for they are selling the food, only the end product will be shown to the buyer, the buyer might not know what they have buy from the seller. The food producer in china, they reused the oil from the drainage. The citizens of the country are starting a petition to stop this action.
“Sewage oil“, also known as “gutter oil” or “drainage oil”, is the leftover and discarded oil collected from the drains and gutters near restaurants that has been “refined” to be reused and resold as cheap cooking oil (chinaSMACK2009).The oil seller will pick the oil from trench to reproduce and sell it to the customer. Most of the china restaurant, no matter one star to five star, they are using drainage oil to cook, it's poison and unsanitary, because the trench oil are very cheap in price state by Derrick. Neither the five stars hotel to the food stall from the road side, they all can buy the reused oil from seller because the reused oil is very cheap. They want to reduce the cost by producing the food. Not only buying the reproduce oil, they also collect the used oil from hotel or the shops.
The restaurant waste oil is usually produced in two ways: the used oil after frying many foods and the waste oil from the water after washing dishes and pots. Used oil and the floating oil fished up from the sewers are now all called drainage oil. Drainage oil must not be consumed by people. It can only be used as raw materials for producing chemical products. However there is profit in this, the trend is an above average restaurant can produce 100 kg of used oil in a month, each kg sells for over 1 Yuan, so the profit is 200-300 Yuan a month. Not only this, the people come to fish from the sewers also pay the restaurant; they pay 200-300 a month.
Do not underestimate the sewers, every time they can pick up 10- 20 kg! Therefore, people are in competition for fishing the waste oil. These people must pay the restaurants and hotels money each month. After a deal is formed, hotel security guards only permit these people to fish out waste oil and deny all others ( Key, 2010).
All the consumer will not know where the oil from and what kind of oil are the food seller are using, they will just concern about the food only. Many of the consumers will eat the food without knowing the actual process. Xie Lili, 25, runs an organic store on the internet. In the aftermath of the oil scare, she said she had seen “a huge increase” in demand for organic salts, oils and spices (the telegraph 2010).
In my opinion, the business should act ethical because it have to consider about the people who eating the food that cooked by the reused oil. Because as a consumer, we have to choose the healthy food to feed ourselves, the business people have to stand in the consumer shoes to think if they will consume the drainage oil, how they will react after they knowing this serious problem.
In china, some of the rich people they are making the money from the people from their home country, they are not helping the people that very poor, so that their country people are poor getting poor, the rich people getting rich. The rich people are not caring about other but just themselves. They should care about the poor people because the poor people is the human capital for moving forward the operation and also be the consumers for those products.
Teach ethics to the children when they are small, the parent should educate the children since young age so that they can learn the parent attitude very easily because they are following their parent foot step to growth up. They parent should more consider the children before the children have the unethical or the behaviour like to finish the task without thinking others consideration. Such as cheating or steeling. The business that start from
Governments have to take serious action for catching the people that selling the reused oil, and catch the buyers that buy this oil for cooking. The government can take very serious action for those collecting the drainage oil and the people who processing the reused oil.
The health ministry department has to take a very serious management to control the safety of the food. The society has to be more concern about the process of producing the food. For solution, the manufacturer should let people who involve in the processing of the products to know more in details about the processing and the operating of the company. The company can also show the process of the factory to the consumer that their products are safety to be consumed.
Besides that, they can take more care about the environment by not pouring the oil to the drain. For example, Japanese have taken the initiative to separate their rubbish before they throw away. Their government has established the rules and regulations that not allowing the people to pour the used oil into the drainage. That is why their place is clean and comfortable for human to stay. They did take the initiative as the first few countries to recycle the rubbish. However, they will not take the rubbish’s food to recycle again and produce other items or food for their people.
