INTERNSHIP
Two men that named Nick and
Billy were fired from their previous company that selling the luxury watches
because the shop is closing down. The Google managers want them although they
are not in the age that normal student go internship because they have unique
though and actions and the managers are giving the chance for them to go the
Google Head Quarter to do their “uncle internship”.
The Google Company is focusing
the diversity in their work place. They want different people that have
different way of thinking to join them. So they are accepting
different people to work with them. However they must fulfill the required
requirement of the company.
In the beginning, the Google
manager has an ethic lesson with their intern talk about the business ethic and
the ethic in the company. The student interns are answering the correct
questions that teach by the manager such “Taking beer with your boss”, “taking
the company food home”. Two of the “uncle interns” answer the question from
their thought that can have beer with their boss and can take the food back to
their home. The thought of I'm not doing the wrong things for doing these
"unethical" action. If they be a manager in the company, they would
be an amoral manager because they dint know they are doing the wrong behavior.
The manager that taking care of the intern was very unhappy and very angry
about their answer and they just answer what they feel is right.
Actually Malaysia can’t apply
this concept that set the free food stall in the company to let the employee to
enjoy the free foods and drinks. Because of the Malaysian working behavior and
their cultural are different.

About the Google working
environment, all the employee that work with the Google can enjoy the free food
and drinks from their own F&B outlet. The intern can enjoy the foods and
the drink as the normal staff from the Google HQ also. For
the case of Google, they want their employee have the creativity and their
ability for solving the problem. They are hiring the top people in the world to
work with them. The objective of setting the free food stall and relaxing
workplaces for their employees because Google Company wants their employee work
in the comfortable working environment. They believe that they don’t need to be at their desk to need an answer.
They can do the research on the beanbag area, the garden or at their home. Al long
as the internet is access there.
The
core message is simple: Being a Googler means holding yourself to the highest
possible standard of ethical business conduct. This is a matter as much
practical as ethical; we hire great people who work hard to build great
products, but our most important asset by far is our reputation as a company
that warrants our users' faith and trust. That trust is the foundation upon
which our success and prosperity rests, and it must be re-earned every day, in
every way, by every one of us (Investor.google.com, 2013).
They have an informal motto
that states "don't be evil", the googlers generally relate those
words to the way they serve their user, as they should. Their working behavior
are highly be motivated by themselves. Besides
don’t be evil, they also encourage their employee to speak up if they see
something that they think isn't right.
The Googler believe that they can make money without
doing evil, because Google is a business that earn the revenue that generate by
derived from offering search technology to company and from the sale of
advertising displayed on their site.
Company
empower the employee and given the flexible time as a source of
selves motivation to the employee. The entire employees are highly motivated by
themselves to run the job automatically.
Ethic to the employee, they
have given the employee the job within the time and within their ability. About
the work load, the worker in the Google Company, they have to “find the job
themselves”. It means the boss will give the project if they are requesting job
from the boss. In the movie, the “uncle intern” wants some job from the manager
because he wants to get closer to the female manager. He gets a harder job for
developing the HTML5. He fell he have learn something after he get
the job from the manager. This show, the manager
will help and guide the new comers to finish their job
also. They are not giving the job simply to make the employee feel stress and
not working on their job.
Google are choosing the right
people to enter their company. They are applying the company structure as the
decentralize structure. The employee can do what they wish. But there have some
limitation on what they are doing also. They are not limited the drugs and
alcohol in their work place, but they have to follow the law of respecting each
other in the company. From the law of the company, the have some rules about
the equal opportunity employment which talk about the employee
have to base on their merit and qualification directly related to
professional competence.
From this movie, we learn about
why we live, they thought us the Googlelines though that" they work hard
for a reason, because they believe that what they do in the Google is help make
people’s lives a little bit better". They have believed that they can make
something for the human, so that they are working so hard to for
the company GOOGLE! The Googler believe that
great just isn't enough for them. They are searching and finding to way
innovation and iteration, they can work well and improve upon in unexpected
way.
If all the company are doing like Google, give flexible time free food for the employee. Is the employee being like Google employees that have high production?
